Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey says his Monster Energy AMA Supercross main event win at the penultimate round in Salt Lake City over the weekend made his early return to the series all worthwhile.

After suffering a collarbone injury mid-season, Dungey opted to return with just three rounds of SX remaining, rather than wait for the outdoor opener at Hangtown this month.

Dungey explained that this win is an even greater accomplishment after recovering from his injury, and he’s now back in the race for a top three overall in the series.

“It feels great to take another win tonight,” said Dungey. “It is an even greater accomplishment to take this win after recovering from my collarbone injury.

“It solidifies that we made the right choice to come back to racing and finish out the Supercross series before heading to outdoors.”

The former champion’s Red Bull KTM squad played a big role in Dungey’s comeback and win.

“I just really want to thank my team tonight. They did a great job getting my bike ready and I couldn’t have won without them,” Dungey added.

Look for Dungey to carry this momentum into the 2012 AMA Supercross finale being held at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas on 5 May.
