JGRMX owner Coy Gibbs has credited Davi Millsaps for his form in the 2012 Monster Energy AMA Supercross series, currently running second with just three rounds remaining for the season.
Millsaps finished sixth at New Orleans on Saturday night after qualifying via the LCQ, then recovering from a first turn crash in the main.
Gibbs has stood by Millsaps while James Stewart was forced out through a hand injury, and speculation continues to swirl regarding Stewart’s future with the team.
“[Davi] has really shown a lot of heart this year,” commented Gibbs. “He’s working hard and it shows. He went down in the heat race and we didn’t know if he’d be able to come back for the LCQ, but he did, and he won the LCQ.
“Then he went down in the first turn in the main event and came all the way back up to sixth from way back there. He was on the gas – we’re really proud of Davi.”
Millsaps is now a career-best second in the standings and five points in front of Justin Brayton, while Stewart is fifth.
Rising star Gavin Faith was testing with the team earlier this week in North Carolina, however he’s yet to be confirmed for the team in the final rounds.
