Conondale podiums lay great foundation for Serco Yamaha

The Serco Yamaha Metal Mulisha team has kicked off their 2012 Monster Energy MX Nationals campaign with a bang, taking two out of three MX2 podium spots in round one at Conondale.

The Serco crew had a strong presence on the MX2 podium at round one.

The Serco Yamaha Metal Mulisha team kicked off their 2012 Monster Energy MX Nationals campaign with a bang last Sunday, taking two out of three MX2 podium spots in round one at Conondale.

Back for 2012 is the formidable team of Kirk Gibbs and Luke Styke, who both laid down solid rides and showed they will be contenders for the title.

Gibbs came into the event with a suspected fracture to his scaphoid, but with the help of a wrist brace and determination, Gibbs came through with the overall win.

While Gibbs took the win, teammate Styke was not far behind, laying down solid motos all day on the tough Conondale circuit, finishing up with a third place overall.

Taking first and third on the day, the Serco Yamaha Metal Mulisha team cemented themselves as serious contenders for the MX2 title in 2012.

Team owner Gavin Eales was on hand to witness his teams success and is happy with the early season results so far.

“The pleasing thing from my end is that the team and the riders were solid right across the board,” said Eales. “Both guys got pretty good starts, showed good speed and plenty of race fitness.

“Our bikes also looked to be working well and it was a real team effort and something that we really aimed for early in the season.”

With such a great showing at round one, you can expect to see the Serco Yamaha machines up front once again when the series rolls in Coonabarabran, NSW, on 14-15 April.
