Price and Hollis split wins in Dungog AORC season opener

Motorex KTM Off-Road's Toby Price leads the Australian Off-Road Championship after taking the Outright win at the first round in Dungog NSW this past weekend.

Motorex KTM Off Road Racing’s Toby Price leads the Australian Off-Road Championship after the opening two rounds of the year in Dungog, New South Wales, this past weekend.

In Saturday’s racing, Price laid down fast times in multiple tests, taking the win ahead of Ballard’s Yamaha Off-Road’s Stefan Merriman and Daniel Milner.

Reigning champion Chris Hollis suffered a derailed chain, pushing him down the ladder in the results, after he was strong early in the round.

The first E1 line honours of the series were taken by Milner, who finished ahead of Josh Green and Ben Burrell.

Ballard’s Yamaha Off-Road’s Matt Phillips took the E2 Class honours, coming home ahead of Glenn Kearney and Mitcham Harper, while the E3 class belonged to Price, who was followed home on the timesheet by Stefan Merriman and Scott Keegan.

In Sunday’s racing Hollis bounced back from his disappointing finish the day before, to finish the day on top of the board Outright.

Hollis finished 14 seconds ahead of teammate Price and 16 seconds ahead of Husqvarna Racing’s Glenn Kearney.

Hollis also cleaned up in the E2 class, winning over Kearney and Phillips with a 16-second margin between first and second place.

E1 Class honours were awarded to Daniel Milner for the second consecutive round, nudging out Ben Burrell and Luka Bussa for the win.

The E3 Class results were a carbon copy of Saturday’s racing, with first place finisher Price shadowed followed closely over the line by Stefan Merriman and Scott Keegan.

The next round of the AORC series will kick-off in the Victorian town of Wonthaggi on 1 April.
