Defending MX Nationals champion Jay Marmont has taken a win on debut with his new Monster Energy Kawasaki team.
Defending MX Nationals champion Jay Marmont has taken a win on debut with Monster Energy Kawasaki team on the Bellbird Circuit at Appin in New South Wales over the weekend.
Using this race as a warm-up for the upcoming season, Marmont put in a solid ride on the new bike taking the Open class win, while gaining more valuable seat time on the Kawasaki KX450F.
Marmont also took out the 30-minute Tim Dean Memorial Cup race, winning that race ahead of Serco Yamaha’s Luke Styke and younger brother, Ryan Marmont.
Other MX Nationals contenders used the race as a shakedown for the season ahead, including Styke, who took second in the Open class, with Beau Ralston taking third overall.
Hart and Huntington Suzuki’s Dan McCoy took a third in moto one, before crashing and being hospitalised for scans. He’s since been released without serious injury.
Marmont’s teammate Kade Mosig was able to sweep the Lites class on his Monster Energy Kawasaki KX250F.
JDR Motorex KTM’s Ryan Marmont took a second place in moto one of the Lites, before unfortunately injuring his hand and scoring zero points in the remaining races.
Meanwhile, in Victoria, CDR Yamaha’s Lawson Bopping won on debut aboard the YZ450F at the Wonthaggi MX Masters.
and Team 07 Suzuki Motorsports Adam Monea and Ross Beaton raced the Wonthaggi two Day MX Masters.
Bopping took the Open class win on debut with his new team for 2012, with Team 07 Suzuki’s Rossi Beaton taking second place. His teammate Adam Monea took home a second place in the Pro Lites class.
Round one of this year’s MX Nationals series commences on 1 April at Conondale in Queensland.
