Jeff Ward Racing has completed its line-up for the 2012 AMA supercross and motocross season, signing Kyle Chisholm to join Josh Grant on Kawasakis for next year.
Chisholm, fresh from victory at Bercy, recently inked a deal with the team that’s owned by multi-time AMA champion Jeff Ward and Mike Kranyak, and he told Racer X Online that he’s excited with the deal.
“I was also talking to factory Suzuki, Larry [Brooks’] team with Honda, the Star/Valli Yamaha guys, BTO/Butler Brothers, and even MotoConcepts before they signed [Mike] Alessi,” Chisholm said.
“So yeah, I was talking to a lot of people and it was getting later and later. I felt this was the best plan for me, especially with them riding Kawasakis, which I grew up riding.
“But it did happen later than I had hoped.”
Chisholm has ridden for the team before, albeit when it was under the L&M Racing banner on Yamahas alongside James Stewart. Back then, it was Larry Brooks who was Kranyak’s partner in the team.
“Jeff Ward is obviously new, he seems like a really good guy, and look at his career, I don’t need to say anything more about him,” he added. “And Mike Kranyak has always been behind me.
“The last few years I had ridden Yamahas, but I had ridden Kawasakis since I was eight years old. As soon as I got on the bike, I felt right at home. So I’m pumped on that.”
