American Gavin Faith has expressed interest in returning to Australia during his career after finishing second in the Monster Energy Super X Lites class this season.
The Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing team rider claimed second in the series after a strong performance at the final round of the series in Ipswich.
Faith was fifth coming into the round, but won his heat race and stormed to the lead in the 15-lap final after taking the holeshot.
A few small mistakes late in the race saw Faith’s lead diminish, with championship winner Matt Moss passing the Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing rider with just one lap remaining.
“My goal was to come here tonight and secure second in the championship and I am really pleased that I did that,” Faith said.
“I won my heat race, holeshot the main and was on course for the win, but I made a couple of little mistakes that allowed Mossy to catch me. Then he got past me with a lap to go.
“I had a great time racing out here in Australia. I can’t thank Yarrive [Konsky] and the whole Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing team enough.
“Hopefully I will get the chance to come back again,” Faith concluded.
It’s expected that Honda will expand to a full time Lites rider in 2012, that ride linked to Queenslander Ford Dale.
