CDR Rockstar Energy Drink Yamaha’s Jay Marmont has taken an emphatic first Pro Open victory of the season at Campbelltown’s third round of the 2011 Monster Energy Super X series.

Four-time outdoor champion Marmont was at his absolute best in the Triple Header, the only rider to triple onto a tabletop through the final rhythm section and using it to great effect throughout the main event.

Marmont won with 2-1-1 results, claiming the overall victory just days following the birth of his baby boy, Jax. The win put him right in title contention with two rounds to run.

“I had the same feeling at Coolum, just more butterflies inside me before going out and racing,” Marmont said. “As an athlete, a dirt bike rider, that’s what we all want to achieve.

“I had a lot of fun out there, everything was hooking up, my Yamaha worked great and it was awesome.”

Behind Marmont came rookie wonder Lawson Bopping, the Raceline Pirelli Suzuki rider winning the first final of the evening before wrapping it up with 5-2 finishes.

Rounding out the podium was opening round winner Tye Simmonds, the JDR Motorex KTM putting forward a consistent effort to seal the final position on the rostrum.

Simmonds reclaimed the series lead with his result, while round two winner Dan McCoy (Motul Pirelli Suzuki) was fourth overall for the round.

Brenden Harrison clinched his first ever Pro Lites main event victory with 4-1-3 results for JDR Motorex KTM in a drama-filled Triple Header main event.

“I’m just so ecstatic to be up here – I work so hard and my team works even harder,” Harrison said. “I just need to thank everybody behind me, I really don’t know what to say.

“I’m not worried about the championship, I just want to concentrate on myself and doing the best I can. If I can do that then I’m sure it will all turn out okay.”

American Gavin Faith raced to second overall in his first podium appearance for Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing, winning final one, but crashing while leading in the second final.

Second in the third final secured second for Faith, ahead of Serco Yoshimura Yamaha’s Luke Styke, who scored 3-3-4 results on the night.

Series leader Matt Moss had his win streak and hopes of a clean-sweep broken, finishing equal third with Styke on points, but fourth overall on countback.

With 2-2-10 finishes after a crash in the final moto, Moss now leads the series by three points over Harrison with two rounds remaining.

The final main event of the night was won by Dean Ferris, the Monster Energy Kawasaki rider bouncing back after a number of crashes during the main. Ferris took 11th and 14th in the remaining races.

The Under 19s final was won by outdoor champion, Raceline Pirelli Suzuki’s Errol Willis, after taking charge in the early laps.

Second was Mitch Norris aboard a Yamaha YZ250 two-stroke, while Corey Lucas took his first podium of the season aboard the privateer Suzuki.

Willis extended his lead in the series, while Lucas continues to impress as he moved up to second in the standings.

The Junior Development class was taken out by Yamaha Junior Development Team rider Joel Dinsdale ahead of Honda young gun Hayden Melross and Kurt Waterman.

Next Saturday night will see Super X continue in the Hunter Valley at Maitland on 12 November.
