Serco Yoshimura Yamaha’s Luke Styke has continued to impress as a guest of the team, maintaining his goal of top five finishes throughout the 2011 Monster Energy Super X series.
In what was his home round last weekend at Wollongong, the Nowra-based local finished fifth in the Pro Lites main event and continues to sit third in the standings with three rounds to go.
A clear indication of his current form in wet or dry conditions, Styke also raced to his first heat race victory of the year before the thunderstorms struck WIN Stadium.
“My goal for Super X was to be in the top five of every race and so far, so good,” Styke said.
“I can’t say that I really enjoy riding in the mud and two weeks in a row makes it hard on the bikes and the team.
“But I’m happy with how things are going – the Serco team has been great.”
Styke was confirmed by the team for the entire Super X season after filling in for injured regular Ford Dale during the final two rounds of the MX Nationals.
Earlier in the season, Styke had impressed as a privateer in the Pro Lites category of the outdoors.
