Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Dean Ferris puts his performance in last weekend’s Wollongong round of Monster Energy Super X down to bad luck, after failing to finish the main event.

Ferris rode to the top position in qualifying practice with the quickest time and backed that performance up with a solid start in the heat to lead before crashing.

When the rain came before the main events, Ferris was inside the top five exiting the first turn, but soon saw his race ruined by a series of frustrating falls.

His race was finally finished midway through with a bigger crash in the first rhythm section, winding him and forcing a DNF for the round.

“We prepared for the conditions, but I just had a lot of bad luck,” he said. “I had a few crashes and eventually winded myself really bad.

“I was out too long to be able to finish enough of the race to score any points so I pulled in and that was my night.”

The DNF was costly for Ferris in the five-round series, dropping to 14th place in the championship standings.
