JDR Motorex KTM has confirmed that Tye Simmonds will return home for the 2011 Monster Energy Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, expanding the team to a total of six riders for the series.

Simmonds will step up to the 450 SX-F for Super X after campaigning a 350 since the beginning of last year, and he’s looking forward to racing on home soil after a solid debut year in the U.S with JDR/J-Star/KTM.

“It’s good to be home, really nice to be back with family and friends in Australia,” 19-year-old Simmonds said. “Super X is coming up so since it’s five rounds back-to-back we decided to race the series to finish out the year. It’s short and sharp, so it should be fun.”

Simmonds finished fourth in Super X last season and has multiple podiums to his credit. With the AMA outdoors only concluding at the beginning of this month in California, he’s confident the momentum will help him into Super X.

“Even though it was motocross, it was racing and any time on the bike is good,” Simmonds added. “I’ve had two weeks off since then and that’s been good, so now I’ll get serious and start riding again.”

Simmonds will join former Australian Supercross Champion Daniel Reardon aboard the 450 SX-F for Super X, while Ryan Marmont will campaign the 350 SX-F in the Pro Open category.

JDR Motorex KTM’s Pro Lites team will consist of multiple-time national champion Matt Moss, Brenden Harrison and Josh Cachia, who is currently in the USA training and preparing for Super X.

The 2011 Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, will commence at Melbourne Knights Stadium in Victoria on 22 October.
