TwoTwo Motorsports Bel-Ray Racing’s Chad Reed has admitted that he lost form following his scary crash at Spring Creek during the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship, relieved to return to the winner’s circle in moto one at the FIM Motocross of Nations.
Reed’s ‘Chad-a-pult’ on the opening lap while leading moto two at Millville was aired worldwide, ultimately dashing his title chances as Ryan Villopoto and Ryan Dungey made their way past him at that point in the series.
“Honestly, since the crash at Millville it has been very clear I didn’t have what I did pre-crash,” Reed told RacerXonline.com. “No disrespect to the two Ryans but I felt like I had them covered. I was 20-plus points up at one point.
“Oh well, coming out here I felt better and better all the time and in that first moto when it started raining, I started to enjoy it and push it in the right areas. I pulled away from those guys and it was sweet to do that.
“It was a nice feeling to get the monkey off your back a little bit.”
Reed will return next season with his own team for another full season of supercross and motocross in the U.S.
