FIM Motocross World Championship organisers Youthstream have released a statement to dismiss claims that Red Bull Teka KTM will switch world champion Antonio Cairoli to the United States full time in 2012.
Cairoli had earlier been confirmed to be remaining with KTM for next season, however recent speculation had linked him to a shock switch to the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship in the U.S.
“Rumours have been flying, saying that Antonio Cairoli will participate in the AMA National series next year with KTM, but after talking with the concerned parties, it’s necessary to inform that these are only allegations and don’t reflect the reality,” the statement said.
“Antonio Cairoli has signed a contract with KTM to race the FIM Motocross World Championship next year and for the future. Now is the time to celebrate Antonio’s marvellous 2011 season.
“Youthstream thanks Antonio Cairoli and KTM for their loyalty and partnership in the FIM Motocross World Championship.”
Cairoli is on track to clinch a third straight MX1 World Championship this season, his second successive aboard the 350 SX-F.
