MotoOnline.com.au is attending the launch of Yamaha’s 2012 YZ250F motocross bike in Queensland today.
Held at Stanmore, the launch will introduce the model to the Australian motorcycle press, and MotoOnline.com.au is here right in the thick of the action.
MX Nationals contenders Kirk Gibbs, Luke Arbon and Shaun Redhead are all on hand for the test, with Yamaha’s factory race teams set to race the bike in Super X this year.
After solid performances to date this season in Australia, Europe and the USA, the 2012 Yamaha YZ250F features a series of revisions to improve it over the current model.
Some of the highlights of the model include a visually thicker twin-spar style of frame, plus a revised offset that will provide a balance between both stability and steering.
The bike retains carburettors for another year, although it is revised and Yamaha claims the reason for not switching the EFI is because the lower weight is more of an advantage than EFI.
Stay tuned for the Launch Test to be uploaded on MotoOnline.com.au tomorrow afternoon.
