Dual Pro Lites Australian Motocross Champion Matt Moss is unlikely to contest the final rounds of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship despite travelling to the U.S. on Sunday.
Moss won his second Pro Lites MX Nationals crown for JDR Motorex KTM at Coolum last month, heading to the States in order to prepare for next month’s Motocross of Nations in France, where he’ll represent Australia on the MX2 bike.
With JDR/J-Star/KTM’s PJ Larsen suffered fractures in the C4, C5 and C6 vertebrae and being ruled out of the remaining nationals, many had speculated that Moss will be drafted in as a replacement alongside fellow Aussie Tye Simmonds.
According to sources within the Australian-owned JDR Motorsports operation, replacing Larsen is unlikely to happen for Moss, who’s coming off a hard-fought outdoor season at home and now focusing on the MXoN for Team Australia.
Following the MXoN, Moss will then set his sights on the Monster Energy Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship.
Moss has been all but confirmed by JDR Motorsports to be switching full time to the U.S. in 2012, a move which will mark his return to the AMA following an injury-plagued season alongside Ryan Dungey at Rockstar Makita Suzuki last year.
