Maddo out with compressed spine, replaced by fellow Aussie

Sheehan will replace Maddo in Best Trick and Freestyle at X Games.

After a compressed spine has seen the dissapointing withdrawal from X Games for Aussie freestyle motocross legend Robbie Maddison, another Australian has been called to take his place.

Today will see Carlton Dry Honda Thor’s Josh Sheehan have his turn at shooting for glory on one of the sport’s highest pedestals in the best trick category, after he got the news yesterday that he would replace Maddo.

The West Australian has set alight the competitive scene in 2011, showcasing his skills in Europe in the IFMXF series and more recently in the Red Bull X-Fighters.

“I was very surprised when I went to register with X Games as an alternate rider today, and then I was told that I was now riding in both Freestyle and Best Trick. It really made my day!” said Sheehan.

“I feel really confident to compete in Freestyle. I spent this past week working on some new tricks, and improved on a few little things in my run.

“The main difference is X Games has a different judging system to the 5-judge system of X-Fighters, but I think I will be fine to just go big.

“I am now just busy organising my bike and parts in LA, but really it’s great to know that my dreams really have come true to ride at X Games!”
