Serco Yoshimura Yamaha’s Jake Moss will sit out the final two rounds of the Rockstar MX Nationals in a bid to regain full fitness for Super X.

Scans following his crash at Wodonga revealed his shoulder injury was more serious than originally thought, the 2007 series champion undergoing surgery earlier this week to repair tendon damage.

Moss will require six weeks off the bike to regain strength, expected to make a full recovery and be back in action for the Super X championship starting in October.

“It was sore in the days after the crash and my original thought was that it was just banged up and some rest was all I needed,” Moss said.

“But further investigation showed some tendon damage on my shoulder and surgery would be required to reattach tendon to my shoulder.

“It’s disappointing for myself and the Serco Yoshimura Yamaha team as each round our results and speed were getting better and I think that we were in a good position to challenge for race and round wins.”

“The positive is that doctors say there will be no long term damage and my shoulder will be 100 percent. I will be go to good for Super X.”

Taking the spot vacant spot on the Serco Yoshimura Yamaha team will be New South Wales Yamaha support rider Luke Styke.

Styke, the 2009 Under 19s MX Nationals Champion, has battled hard in 2011 but impressed many with his fighting spirit and turned in some handy results where he currently sits 10th in the Pro Lites class.

“While it may only be the final two rounds it still is a great opportunity to race for a professional team and on a factory bike,” Styke said.

“I was pumped to get the call from the Serco team and I can’t wait to get on the start line for Moree and Coolum.”
