As a Pro Open rookie in the Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals, 21-year-old Lawson Bopping has proven to be one of our greatest young talents on a 450 in 2011.

Forming part of the Raceline Pirelli Suzuki team for this year and impressing with a podium to kick-start his campaign at Broadford, MotoOnline.com.au decided to learn more about Bopping away from the race track.

Lawson Bopping has been a revelation of sorts in the Pro Open field as a rookie in 2011.

Greatest moment of your career?
There are a few, but winning Launceston Super X in 2010 was a pretty good feeling

Toughest race ever?
Brisbane and Dunedin Super X races last year. I hit my knee in the first race in NZ and it hurt so bad!

Long-term goal?
To live and race in America, making a real good living

Favourite track?
My track after some rain, or Mackay in QLD

If you weren’t a racer, you would be?
Riding BMX

Arch-rival?
In the Lites it was Coxy lol! Crashed with him so many times… Not sure yet in the 450 class. All of the top 10?

Greatest inspiration?
Ricky Carmichael and Travis Pastrana

Superstitions?
Yep, heaps of little ones, it sucks! Wish I didn’t have any…
