Australia’s Chad Reed will be striving to stand on the top step of the podium this weekend at the RedBud round of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship, taking place on the Independence Day weekend in the U.S.
This Saturday the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship will hit its half-way point and the most patriotic event of the season at RedBud, Michigan, just two days prior to 4 July festivities.
The red-plate holder from round one, Reed is looking to learn from the challenges he faced at Thunder Valley and feels there is speed to be found in the tight rutted sections of track.
“I struggled in the ruts last weekend, an area where I’m usually pretty confident and fast,” said Reed.
“It wasn’t all bad though, it gave me an area to focus on ahead of RedBud and we’ve had a few productive days to get it sorted.
“Third place was a solid outcome for us and I was happy to take the points and keep the lead heading towards the middle of the season.
“RedBud is an iconic race on the calendar and the crowd really gets behind the American riders at the track.
“I’m really looking forward to this one, the bike is super-fast and I feel like I can bounce back and match it with the two Ryan’s (Villopoto and Dungey) this weekend.”
Reed’s 450 class lead was reduced to eight points following last weekend’s Thunder Valley race and he is hopeful of keeping his TwoTwo Motorsports Honda in front following the sixth of 12 rounds on the national calendar.
SPEED TV Australia will telecast the RedBud National live this Sunday, 3 July from 6.00-8.00am with a replay following from 2.30-4.00pm.
