Todd Waters could be a darkhorse on return to the MX Nationals this weekend at Coonabarabran.

Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing’s Todd Waters will return to the Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals with his confidence high after a string of solid results in local races of late.

After being sidelined for over three months due to a broken scaphoid sustained prior to the start of the MX Nationals, Waters is confirmed to race at this weekends sixth round of the series at Coonabarabran’s Goanna Tracks Complex.

To ensure he is fit and ready, Waters, who has only been back on his Honda CRF450 for four weeks, has contested state motocross events in both NSW and Queensland.

The 20-year old claimed victory in the Pro Open class at a the Boolooroo Open in Moree on 4 June before taking second at the 2011 Queensland Motocross Championships in Coolum last weekend.

Waters finished the weekend just one point behind defending MX Nationals Pro Open Champion Jay Marmont, indicating that he’ll be a force to be reckoned with come Sunday.

“I won the race day at Moree and that was a good first up event for me to test myself and make sure I was physically ready to race,” Waters explained.

“At Coolum I missed out on the overall by just one point to Jay Marmont but I am not disappointed, it was a great confidence booster as I won two of the five races.

“It’s been four weeks since I’ve been back on the bike and I’m really looking forward to finally being able to get out there and race,” Waters concluded
