Metcalfe rues bad starts at High Point, looking to Budds Creek for redemption

Metcalfe was looking for more than his eighth place at High Point.

Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Brett Metcalfe has cited bad starts as the main factor for his dissapointing eighth place overall finish at High Point Raceway’s round three of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship.

After qualifying sixth fastest, the 2010 number two outdoor series finisher rounded lap one of moto one in 12th position, working his way through to eighth by race end.

Moto two saw things get worse for the Aussie, as a first turn pileup saw him effectively start from the rear of the field. Metcalfe pushed his way through the pack to finish the race in tenth position, giving him the eighth overall placing for the day.

“It was a pretty tough day for me at Mt. Morris,” said Metcalfe.

“I didn’t get the results I wanted and I had two bad starts at a track where it’s really important to get a top five start in order to be in contention for a decent overall finish. It was just one of those days where things just didn’t happen.”

Metcalfe will look to the next round at Budds Creek for redemption after the disappointing weekend.

“We know what we have to do moving into Budds Creek,” Metcalfe stated.

“I’m looking forward to Budds, it’s a good circuit and I really like it there. I’m looking forward to going there and redeeming myself with some better results.”

Metcalfe currently sits fifth in 450 class points after three rounds of the championship.
