Moto two crash in France has no real effect Roczen's MX2 title chances

Crashes in race two prevented another win for Roczen in France.

Crashes in race two prevented another win for Roczen in France.

Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing’s Ken Roczen had a mixed day at the French GP as Saint Jean D’Angely.

Taking pole in qualifying, the current MX2 points leader holeshot the first moto and went on to a convincing win of over 14 seconds.

Race two saw another big holeshot, however a huge cartwheel sent him to the ground. Roczen was able to remount only to hit the dirt again later in the race, leaving him in 11th for the moto.

“I had two amazing starts, like I was two bike lengths ahead, it was unbelievable but then in the second moto I made a mistake in the first lap and went down hard. I kept going but then I had another small crash and ended up eleventh,” Roczen commented.

Despite the tough weekend, Roczen stays positive, with no major injuries from the incident, a decent points lead and the knowledge that his speed was there to win.

“Now I am 13 points ahead. I lost one point but that’s not too bad. I’m not badly injured. I have a little pain but I think it’s going to be worse tomorrow because I’m going to be stiff,” he reflected.

Round six of the World FIM Motocross Championship will take place this weekend with the Grand Prix of Portugal.
