JDR Motorex KTM’s Ryan Marmont is recovering from ankle surgery, an injury that could potentially rule him out of the remaining Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals rounds in 2011.

Marmont, 26, suffered a scary incident in the final motos of the South Australian round at Murray Bridge last month, a broken bone in his ankle potentially ruling him out of the series’ remainder.

The surgery took place in Queensland last Friday, Marmont opting to travel to Brisbane for the operation to get two screws inserted after consulting with Suzuki RACESAFE.

“I had surgery last Friday and I’m flying back up there on Thursday to have this ultrasound treatment done that’s supposed to speed up the recovery by 30 percent,” he explained. “They’re positive that it could speed up the process.

“At this stage we’re going to try and speed up the recovery so I’m back on the bike as soon as possible, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to race at any of the nationals or if I’ll have to focus on being 100 percent fit for supercross.”

Earlier in the year, Marmont stunned as a rookie with a dominant moto victory at Appin’s second round of the season.
