Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Brett Metcalfe is feeling confident after a fourth place overall finish at round two of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Nationals at Freestone, Texas.

After sitting out the majority of the supercross season due to injury, ‘Metty’ was happy to be able to post 9-3 moto scores to take fourth overall, even after suffering falls in the first race.

“I was feeling pretty good coming into Texas after my fifth at Hangtown,” said Metcalfe.

“I knew the heat and humidity in Texas is always tough, so my main goal was to get two good starts and put my Rockstar Makita Suzuki up front and then if the heat was a factor, I could back it down from there.”

“I struggled in the first moto and went down twice. And that was after I was up in the front early, so that was a disappointment,” he also commented.

After his first moto falls, Metcalfe was able to redeem himself in race two, grabbing the holeshot and riding to a third place finish.

“I was able to rebound strong and have a really strong second moto and got a third there and a fourth overall. That was a good little boost for me and now I’m sitting fifth in the points,” reflected Metcalfe.

With the series now having a week off, Metty will look to build on the momentum from his strong second moto performance and be ready to continue the form at round three.

“I’m going to take advantage of this off-week and go back to California and do some testing and get ready for High Point,” Metcalfe commented.

“I like that track and last year I was able to get a podium there, so I’m really looking forward to it.”

Round three of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship will see the series move to Mt. Morris on June 11 for the Rockstar Energy High Point National.
