Only days remain before some of Australia’s best Off Road riders descend on Hedley, Victoria, for the third and fourth rounds of the 2011 Yamaha Australian Off Road Championship on May 28 and 29.
Currently leading the Championship outright and also topping the E2 class is Port Macquarie local, Ballards Yamaha rider Chris Hollis. The 26-year-old sits four points ahead of Motorex KTM rider Jarrod Bewley in the outright standings, and has a seven-point buffer in the E2 class ahead of Polish import and Husqvarna rider Bartosz Obluki.
Looking to make up for a disappointing start to the season will be reigning Champion, Motorex KTM’s Toby Price. The Singleton local will be looking to make up some serious ground in the points stakes, with a 19-point gap Outright, and a 22-point gap in the E2 class standing in his way.
Returning to the AORC after riding in Europe will be Soldiers Point local Josh Green, who will front up against both Price and Hollis in the E2 class.
Run in conjunction with the sixth and seventh rounds of the Victorian Off Road Series, local riders can look forward to rubbing shoulders with the whos who of the Australian Off Road scene, including the likes of Stefan Merriman, Glen Kearney, Jarrod Bewley, and Ben Grabham.
The Championship round will be hosted by the Corner Inlet Motorcycle Club on Faheys Rd, Hedley, VIC. Racing will start with Juniors at 8:20am on Saturday, with the format being Cross Country for Saturday and Sprints on Sunday.
