Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing’s Cheyne Boyd says he is happy with his season best fourth place on the weekend at round five of the Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals, commenting that the Echo Valley circuit was one of the toughest tracks he has faced.
After an overnight downpour rendered the track a quagmire, Boyd was pleased to be able to record eighth, third, second and fourth placings in the days four races.
“Considering the track conditions I was pretty happy with my races today,” Boyd said.
“The track was insane you couldn’t let your guard down at all, it had some of gnarliest ruts I have ever seen. It took all my strength to stay on the bike, you couldn’t hang it out.
“I stalled the bike off the start in Race 1 and was dead last. Then I crashed but thankfully I came back through and put it behind me for the next three races.
“We took some great points today. I have moved to fourth in the championship and I am now within striking distance of third,” Boyd stated
With the series taking a three week break, Boyd will continue his training schedule, and after already spending some time training at round six’s location at Coonabrabran, he will be looking forward to further his climb in the series points.
