Team Rockstar Energy Suzuki World MX1 rider Clement Desalle enjoyed his first perfect weekend at the Glen Helen U.S. Grand Prix.

Under varying weather and track conditions, the 21-year-old Belgian rider was able to seal pole position in qualifying, to then go on and win both motos.

“It was a great weekend for me and I have never taken pole position and won both motos before,” Desalle commented after the race.

After taking pole on Saturday, rain on Sunday morning saw a muddy and slippery first moto, with strong winds eventually pushing the clouds away and drying the track.

The second moto saw a dry track filled with large bumps and ruts after the wet conditions of the morning.

Desalle was able to grab great starts in both of these races and adapt to the conditions. KTM riders Antonio Cairoli and Max Nagl both gave great chase, but could not dislodge the Belgian and his RM-Z450 from the top spot of the podium.

“I also stayed on two wheels and came away without any problems, which is important because the track was dangerous and you had to make quick decisions. I kept in my comfort zone and really enjoyed it,” said Desalle.

Desalle now leads the MX1 category, taking the red leaders plate to Brazil, the site of round four of the Motoross World Championships.
