Monster Energy Kawasaki rookie Jake Weimer will make his racing return next weekend at Salt Lake City in Utah, the penultimate round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship.
Weimer suffered a broken arm in late December and was ruled out of the opening 15 rounds of the 2011 season – all contested in succession – however he’s opted to make a late season return for his 450 Supercross debut.
“The last time I raced was Washougal last year, in July – almost nine months since I raced,” Weimer said. “For Salt Lake I want to be top five and I’m going to try get on the podium. That’s what I want to do and that’s what I wanted to do the whole season before I got hurt.
“It’s been tough and it’ll be tough getting back into racing, but I’m just happy and excited to be racing again, to be healthy, being able to ride.
“Just to be there and say that I’m racing, I’m looking forward to getting back into it.”
The AMA Supercross series will have a weekend off before resuming next weekend in Salt Lake, with the season finale in Las Vegas on the following weekend.
