Queenslander Michael Byrne has admitted the wrist he injured during the pre-season continues to bother him as he battles to make the top 10 in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship.
Byrne finished 14th at Toronto in Canada on Saturday night as he continues to rack up top 15 results for BTOSports.com/Butler Brothers Suzuki, but he says more time is needed for him to reach 100 percent fitness.
“It was tough night,” Byrne reflected when speaking to Racer X. “I rode great in the heat. Off the start [in the main] I was right behind Kevin [Windham] and I went down in the first turn.
“It’s tough for sure, my wrist was bothering me a bit. Maybe need to get some more rest during the week so I’m ready for the main. I feel like I should be a top 10 guy right now but instead of having energy and charging, I’m riding around.”
Byrne suffered the injury while racing in Europe, missing the opening rounds of the season but since has been consistently qualifying for the main events.
