Team 07 Axis Motorsports Honda’s Cody Mackie says he has taken a lot of positives out of the opening MX Nationals round following his fourth place at Broadford last weekend.
Mackie has been in fine form since switching from Kawasaki’s factory effort to the Honda support team for this season in Pro Lites, believing he can carry momentum into next month’s second round at Appin.
“I felt really good on my 07 Axis Honda today and although the first round is always where you find out things at least I finished the day with a strong result,” Mackie said.
“Having the fastest lap in the last race gives me a lot of positives to take out of today.”
Development rider Kieran Hall put in strong showing and consistent showing all day, eventually finishing 12th overall for the round.
“I felt really good today with those starts I was getting and I was on the back of the lead of pack which tells me I do belong in the top 10,” Hall said.
Under 19s contender Dylan Peterson qualified fastest before racing through the pain of a recent broken ankle. Crashes and slow starts hampered his performance, earning him ninth overall.
“I came here today just really hoping to score some decent points knowing I wasn’t fully fit, but after grabbing pole in qualifying I was hoping for a better result than this,” Peterson said.
“With the three-week break I now have an opportunity to put in some heavy training sessions to get my race fitness back up to speed.”
Team 07 Axis Honda Motorsports is this year supported by Honda, Fox, ISQ, C-Bus, Bel Ray, Alpine Star, TeenCee Graphics, DID chains and Renthal.
