National Superstock 600 championship leader Mike Jones has admitted that his early season form is coming to him easy since receiving additional support via the Reece Bancell Scholarship and Yamaha for 2011.

The talented 17-year-old has been in exceptional form at the opening two rounds of the season, taking pole position and all three race victories at both Phillip Island and Symmons Plains.

Cementing his form is the fact that he’s also smashed the lap records at both circuits in what is his second year in the Superstock category after scoring third last season.

“Last year was my first year on the 600, and this year with some concentrated pre-season testing along with the support from the Reece Bancell Scholarship and the partners – Stewart from SW Suspension and Yamaha with the R6,” the talented former MRRDA standout said.

“The whole package has just come together really well. I think also being relaxed on the bike has helped enormously as the times are coming together quite easy and breaking lap records while not being pushed is really exciting.

“I really want to thank everyone who has helped me get to this level. It’s amazing.”

Jones will go head-to-head with ASBK Supersport regular and former World Supersport number two, Yamaha Racing Team’s Kevin Curtain, at the Australian FX600 Championship opener this weekend at Eastern Creek.
