O'Halloran excited for HM Plant shakedown in Spain

Aussie Jason O'Halloran will debut for HM Plant Honda this week.

Aussie Jason O'Halloran will debut for HM Plant Honda this week.

Wollongong’s Jason O’Halloran will this week make his debut for the factory HM Plant Honda team that he’ll contest the British Superstock 1000 Championship with this season, testing at Calafat in Spain.

Riding alongside Superbike teammates Ryuichi Kiyonari and Shane Byrne, former ASBK Supersport Champion O’halloran will ride the HM Plant Honda Superstock 1000 specification Fireblade for the first time.

“I can’t wait to get rolling now as I haven’t ridden a bike since last year and I just want to get working with the team and get on the HM Plant Honda Fireblade,” O’Halloran said.

“I came back from Australia last week and have been up to Louth to see all the team and now all I want to do is get started. I haven’t raced in Superstock before so we can really crack on at these tests so we can come back to the UK ready to go.”

Team manager Havier Beltran looks forward to seeing his three-man squad in action for the first time at the test.

“The first test at Calafat is going to be a shakedown for all the riders and give them the chance to establish a base setting, in order to move on to Cartagena and continue to make improvements ready for the opening round at Brands Hatch at the end of April,” he said.

The 2011 season will commence at Brands Hatch Indy on 22-25 April.
