Former Australian Superbike Champion Glenn Allerton has made it two from two in the Viking Group Australian Superbike Championship season opener at Phillip Island this weekend.
The Hepburn Motorsports BMW ride gave the S 1000 RR an incredible debut in the ASBK, winning both races and completing his perfect race day with a commanding 4.265-second victory in the second of two 12-lap affairs.
Allerton won ahead of Team Suzuki rookie Troy Herfoss, the reigning national Supersport champion impressing on debut and taking second for the race and the round.
Ex-dual ASBK champion Jamie Stauffer was third for Team Honda Racing, that securing him fifth overall.
Stauffer’s teammate Wayne Maxwell suffered a water leak while leading mid-race and was black flagged out of the running.
Third overall was i-Style The Natural Aprilia Racing’s Ben Attard, who finished race two in fifth to secure the final position on the podium for the weekend.
In fourth overall was 2003 champion Craig Coxhell, the Demolition Plus GAS Honda Racing team rider taking 5-4 results for his efforts over the weekend.
