The Hidden Valley round of the Viking Group Australian Superbike Championship will feature a nostalgic flavour with the addition of a Historics class to the 14-17 April event.

The Northern Territory’s capital, Darwin is getting set to host its second standalone motorcycle meet following the successful inaugural event in 2010, and the support class schedule will be bolstered by the addition of historic machines – Period 5, 4 and selected Period 3.

The ASBK will provide entrants with either free entry plus motorcycle and equipment transfer, or free entry plus a travel concession of $500.

Eligible four-stroke Period 4 and 5 and two-stroke Period 5 bikes must be within the 500-1300cc range. Machines, including selected Period 3, must comply with chapter 16 of the 2011 GCR.

Competitors will benefit from two practice and qualifying sessions prior to the weekend’s two historic races. There is an added option to also participate in the event’s Thursday practice session.

The addition of historics will make for a total of six classes on track – Superbike, Prostock, Supersport, Superstock and Superlites.
