Stewart vows he won't crash out of the lead again

Stewart says he won't crash out of the lead in an AMA Supercross race again.

San Manuel Yamaha’s James Stewart has vowed that he won’t crash out while leading an AMA Supercross main event again after losing last weekend’s Los Angeles race to Ryan Villopoto.

In one of the greatest races of all time, Stewart began to assert himself as the leader at the midway point of the race before a crash allowed Kawasaki’s Villopoto to take over at the front.

Once Stewart remounted, he worked his way back to second and that’s where he would stay, finishing runner-up to Villopoto for the series’ debut at Dodger Stadium.

“I got into the lead and then Ryan ran into me, and it was like, ‘All right, let’s go…’ and then I just came into a corner and washed the front end out,” said the 25-year-old Floridian.

“I’m very, very, very disappointed with this one. I just threw it away. I feel bad for my team because we’ve been working hard and you can’t win them on the ground. This won’t happen again.”

After three rounds run to date in 2011, Stewart is second in the standings, trailing Villopoto by five points.
