We play the latest craze in the world of dirt bikes - Mad Skills Motocross for IOS!

Unless you’ve been hiding in the outback with no access to the internet for the past few weeks, chances are you’ve heard of the new Mad Skills Motocross game that was released for IOS systems on 10 January.

The game which is developed by Turborilla and Racer X has taken the Motocross industry by storm, with many of the world’s top riders and team members Tweeting about the game of late.

So, what is it? Mad Skills Motocross is a 2D side-scrolling dirt bike game that has now been released as an App for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch – we can tell you right now, you’ll be impressed!

What’s Hot!
What we like most about Mad Skills MX is the physics of the game as you can use technique and skill to master the game and work your way through the 52 levels (yes, we said 52!) available.

You play the game via accelerating and braking with your left thumb, while you can lean forward or backward with your right thumb.

Plus, there are a number of ‘tools’ that you can unlock via challenges and race wins as your career progresses.

There’s a Career Mode, Time Attack Mode and you can also Challenge Friends head-to-head by using the OpenFeint button on the game’s main menu screen.

Having the ability to share your times and achievements directly from the game onto Twitter and Facebook is also a very cool capability that yu’ll use time and time again.

While racing is the most enjoyable aspect of the game, you can throw your fair share of FMX tricks in with huge jumps, sweet backflips, daredevil frontflips and more – you’ll feel like Travis Pastrana in no time.

What’s Not…
While it’s obviously a very different game to the likes of the ultra-realistic MX vs. ATV (of which we run our very own series in the iMoto Community right here on MotoOnline.com.au) and isn’t supposed to be, it’s hard to find things we don’t enjoy on Mad Skills Motocross.

The game is flawless and a load of fun. It’s by far the greatest side-scrolling game I’ve ever played – and hey, Excitebike previously held that title for over 20 years!

The only thing that we can say isn’t so hot about Mad Skills Motocross is the fact that those around you will get increasingly frustrated when you zone out and sneak onto your phone to battle for the next level.

Here are a few hot tips to make sure your addiction doesn’t affect your life too much:

1. If you’re playing at work (or under the table at dinner), turn the volume down!

2. Try your best not to ignore your mates at the pub while doing motos.

3. Don’t play the game while in bed with your partner. Period!

Scorecard
Overall for what the game is and the enjoyment (and our friends’ who have tried it) that we’ve had over the last couple of days with our pre-release copy, we would have to give the game an A+ rating. If you want to challenge us at Mad Skills, you can find us under MotoOnline.
