Superstock 1000 C and D Champion Cru Halliday will be Demolition Plus GAS Honda Racing's reserve rider this weekend at The 6 Hour.

New Australian Superstock 1000 C and D Champion Cru Halliday will feature as the reserve rider for the all-star Demolition Plus GAS Honda Racing team at this weekend’s Bel-Ray 6 Hour at Phillip Island in Victoria.

Talented 22-year-old Halliday dominated the STK1000 series in the ASBK during 2010 as he won every single round, however the opportunity to partner with Wayne Maxwell and Josh Brookes in The 6 Hour comes as a unique opportunity.

The deal came together at the 11th hour this week after Halliday came to an agreement with team owner Richard Parry, who had competed against Halliday in the Superstock category this season.

While it’s unlikely that Halliday will get the opportunity to compete come Sunday, he’s excited to be involved with two of Australia’s most high profile road race stars.

“I’m looking forward to the event and seeing how the team works with both Maxwell and Brookes,” Halliday told MotoOnline. “It’s a professional team and the race will be a big one, so I’ll be ready do my best if they need me at all throughout the weekend.”

Current Australian Superbike number two Maxwell looks forward to having Halliday in the pit with he and Brookes during the race weekend.

“I remember when I was coming up through the ranks so it will be good for Cru to be with us for this weekend – it’s a great opportunity,” Maxwell commented. “He’s obviously one of the great talents for the future, so to have him as part of our team is a great thing.”

It’s expected that Halliday will complete a number of laps during practice over the weekend, which will mark his official debut on a full ASBK-spec Superbike.

The defending champion Demolition Plus GAS Honda Racing team will line-up as pre-race favourites for the weekend alongside the Team Suzuki entry of Josh Waters and Shawn Giles, as well as the Team Honda Racing duo of Jamie Stauffer and Glenn Allerton.
