CDR Rockstar Energy Yamaha’s Jay Marmont isn’t giving up hope of winning the 2010 Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, despite finishing off the podium with a fourth at Dunedin in New Zealand last weekend.

Marmont’s result sees him fall to 46 points behind Dunedin winner and current series leader Josh Hansen, however Marmont’s not giving up the fight for the championship just yet with 175 points still up for grabs as the series enters its final stages.

“I’m not giving up on the championship because you never know what can happen – racing is racing,” the Wollongong resident commented.

“I don’t want to think about the points, I just want to go out and do good in the races. I want to win races and try to get a round win, so I look forward to finishing the year strong.”

Marmont finished in fourth position in muddy conditions at Dunedin’s fifth round of the Super X, maintaining second in the series.

“I was really confident going into Dunedin after my race win at Auckland, but I just couldn’t get into a rhythm on the night in the muddy conditions,” Marmont explained.

“I was always stuck in the roost, had a crash in the first race, and then pretty much started and finished fourth in the second final. It’s disappointing, but I’m looking forward to going into Parramatta, which is my local race, and having a good one.”

Super X will now return to Australian soil next Saturday night when the series visits Parramatta Stadium in Sydney for the penultimate round on 27 November.
