CDR Rockstar Energy Yamaha’s Jay Marmont has continued his consistent form in the 2010 Monster Energy Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, with a fourth place finish at Launceston in Tasmania over the weekend.

The 27-year-old rode his factory YZ450F to 8-5-5-4 results in the four finals that made up the Survival format main event – the final seven-lap outing counting for vital championship points to round out the night.

“I raced hard on the weekend, it was a tough format doing the Survival in Tasmania,” Marmont commented. “I didn’t really feel that good out there, but I managed to pull it off in getting a decent result.

“I didn’t get good starts and that put me behind in every single race, but the one race that counted at the end I was right there in the mix. I got by [Kevin] Windham and then I made a mistake, totally lost my flow and allowed him to get back by me.”

With another fourth place overall to back up his result from a week prior in Canberra, Wollongong’s Marmont is eager to break onto the podium when the series resumes in a fortnight in New Zealand.

“It would have been good to get on the podium, build some momentum and start getting some better results, but I’ll take fourth and only lost minimal points in the title chase,” he reflected. “In the big picture I’m still sitting pretty for the series just 24 points behind [Josh] Hansen with a lot of races to go, so I look forward to New Zealand and the 100 points up for grabs there.”
