Australia's Casey Stoner will be a favourite when practice kicks off for the Australian MotoGP tomorrow.

Australia’s Casey Stoner will aim for his fourth-straight Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix victory for the Ducati Team when the MotoGP World Championship kicks off at Phillip Island in Victoria tomorrow.

Stoner has proven the new king of the picturesque Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit since winning his first home GP there in 2007, adding two more popular victories in 2008 and 2009.

“I’m looking forward to going back to Phillip Island- we have had decent results there for the past three years and with the way the bike is working now we can expect to be competitive,” Stoner said.

“After last weekend in Malaysia we go there feeling a little disappointed but we will do our best to improve our situation and hopefully fight for another victory.

“I am sure it will be a close race there. It is one of my favourite circuits but that’s the same for a lot of riders and as always I imagine it will be a fun race to watch.”

Stoner recently won the Aragon and Motegi rounds of the championship, however an opening lap crash at Sepang last weekend spelled an end to his winning ways.

Team manager Vittoriano Guareschi is confident that Stoner will be able to continue his winnings ways come Sunday.

“We go to Australia with a package that we know it works well,” Guareschi said. “It is also Casey’s home race, he has always done well there in the past and the Ducati has always been fast and competitive so we expect that to continue.”
