The undisputed Godfather of Freestyle Motocross Mike Metzger has confirmed he will return to Australia for the first time in nearly 10 years, leading the strongest line-up of international riders down under for the Crusty Demons Thirst 4 Destruction action sports spectacular.
Metzger will be joined on the Crusty Demons Thirst 4 Destruction tour, presented by Woodstock Bourbon, by some of world’s best FMX riders, including yesterday’s Salt Lake City Dew Tour winner Taka Higashino and runner-up Mike Mason.
Between the eight confirmed international riders, they boast over 30 X Games medals, multiple world records and over 100 international FMX titles.
Acknowledging the opportunity to work with one of the world’s top 20 promoters, Dainty Consolidated Entertainment, was a key factor in luring him back on tour with the Crusty Demons, Mike Metzger said he was excited at the direction the new tour was taking.
“I can’t wait to get out there for the Crusty Demons tour. I have been wanting to get back to Australia for a lot of years but it hasn’t worked out before,” said Metzger. “I guess almost 10 years on is the right time to head back, it has a nice fit and it feels right. The line-up in insane and the show plan itself is something I just had to be part of.
“Australia is kind of where we really first lit the world on fire with Freestyle Motocross. It was ridiculous how the fans really took to it. It is fitting that this tour sees us go back to dirt and celebrate the history of the Crusty Demons,” Metzger concluded.
The rider line-up resembles a who’s who of FMX with the top echelon of the sport signing up to be part of this history making tour.
Nate Adams (12 times X Games Medalist), Adam Jones (8-time X-Games medalist), Taka Higashino (current X- Games Best Trick bronze medalist & Dew Tour SLC winner) Mike Mason (multiple X-Games medalist) and Beau Bamburg (multiple FMX title holder) cement the impressive rider line-up that will come together in less than a months time for the first show in Perth.
Higashino, who is being hailed by his peers as the best rider in the world at the moment, won yesterday’s Dew Tour Salt Lake City final ahead of fellow Crusty Demon’s rider Mike Mason.
Fresh from celebrating his runner-up placing Mason confirmed the tour was shaping to be the best yet.
“I am especially excited about this tour, it always exciting to ride in Australia but this tour is really going to be something else,” Mason stated. “The new show plan is awesome, we have the best rider line-up ever with a bunch OG’s and some exciting new kids.
“What is really great is that we are joining our creative forces with David Atkins & Ignatius Jones, the masterminds of the Vancouver and Sydney Olympic Games ceremonies. It makes you more amped to see how it is going to turn out,” he said.
The brand new, never before seen show will unleash two months of thrilling action, kicking off in Perth on 16 October before carving a path of destruction across the country.
