Australia's Andrew Pitt has been replaced at Motorpoint Yamaha in BSB.

Two-time Supersport World Champion Andrew Pitt has parted ways with the Motorpoint Yamaha British Superbike team, replaced by former European Superstock Champion Loris Baz.

Recovering from surgery to a badly broken collarbone sustained five weeks ago, Pitt was scheduled to take part in a shakedown test on the Motorpoint YZF-R1 to gauge how his injuries are healing up.

However, the team management informed the Australian dual world champion that his services would no longer be required for the balance of the BSB season.

“I’m obviously disappointed by decision of the team, however, more so by the way the situation was handled,” Pitt commented. “I’ve had my neck on the line and injured myself working hard to find a more competitive set up for the machine and we were making good progress with the Yamaha.

“I wish the team all the best for the remainder of the season and I will now be focusing on fitness and on 2011.”

Young gun Baz replaced Pitt at Croft’s most recent round of the series, impressing by qualifying on the second row of the grid and then racing to a solid seventh place finish during Sunday’s racing action.

Pitt’s future remains unknown as the 2010 season winds down across the globe.
