New Superstock 1000 Champion Cru Halliday's Yamaha YZF-R1 was just one of 11 bikes impounded after Queensland Raceway.

Motorcycling Australia has released an update regarding the 11 Superstock-spec motorcycles that were impounded following the Queensland Raceway round of the 2010 Viking Group Australian Superbike Championship.

Following the Queensland Raceway round on 20-22 August, 10 Superstock 600 machines and Cru Halliday’s championship-winning Superstock 1000 C and D bike were transported from the circuit by MA.

According to MA, “the purpose of impounding these bikes was to carry out detailed checks on the machines to ensure they met the specific rules and regulations set out in the MA’s General Competition Rules (GCR’s) and ASBK Supplementary Regulations”.

Extensive testing and examination of the machines took place including dyno testing, detailed visual examinations and internal examinations of engines.

While no performance irregularities were found in the impounded machines, MA has revealed that some non-original parts were identified on two of the motorcycles – believed to be cosmetic and minor changes such as aftermarket brake and clutch levers.

The series clerk of course has been notified of these infringements and he will determine an appropriate course of action in the coming days, set to be communicated directly to the competitors involved.

All riders have been cleared of any major breaches of the MA GCR’s and ASBK Supplementary Regulations, however it’s yet to be release whose bikes were found to have the aftermarket parts fitted.

“MA’s aim is to ensure current and future competition will be fair and equal, and it is hoped that checks such as these will maintain the high standards set out in the GCRs,” the release stated. “While MA understands the inconvenience this has caused competitors and their support crews, it appreciates their tolerance regarding this matter.

“MA would like to thank all who have been involved in this process, many of whom have given up their own time to carry out these checks.”
