Aussie Casey Stoner was disappointed with third place at the Czech Republic GP on Sunday.

Australia’s 2007 MotoGP World Champion Casey Stoner is disappointed with his third place finish at the Brno round of the MotoGP World Championship last weekend, despite continuing his consistent run of five podiums in succession.

The Ducati Team rider battled early with American rookie Ben Spies before ultimately stamping his authority on the final podium position, however Fiat Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo and Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa proved too quick at the front of the pack.

“To be honest I can’t be completely happy with this result, even though it is always good to be on the podium,” Stoner reflected. “Towards the end of qualifying we thought we had found a good way forward with the setting but we needed to finalise it in the warm-up and we didn’t get chance because of the rain.

“I was struggling with the front for the first few laps and lost too much ground on the two leaders. It looked like there were other guys having similar problems to me and I saw Dovi crash right in front of me. Things improved towards the end but I was too far from Dani and Jorge to trouble them.

“We have work to do but we’re not too far off and I am desperate to fight for victories again – for myself and for Ducati.”

The Ducati Team tried new Ohlins forks in the post-race test at Brno, however rain in the afternoon spoiled any chance of making clear headway to improve the front-end feel of Stoner’s Desmosedici GP10.

Stoner will contest his final races with Ducati to round out a frustrating season before joining Pedrosa in the factory Honda team for the 2011 season.
