The Uncle Project's Mark Gasson toured Australia on a Ducati Monster last month.

The Uncle Project’s Mark Gasson arrived on time and in one piece at Byron Lighthouse, the most easterly point of the Australian mainland, at around 3.30pm on Friday 23 July, greeted by friends, family, Uncle supporters and Ducati fanatics.

Gasson made the 7000-kilometre journey on his Ducati Monster, biking right across Australia with no mechanical difficulties at all, just a brief interlude with a kangaroo.

The adventure began on 3 July with a stop at Gin Gin where he learnt there was a spanner in the works with kilometers of sand dunes in between his starting point and the first bit of tarmac.

Not one to be put off by such hurdles and with the assistance of the local Marine Rescue and some friendly campers with a hard core 4WD, he planted his flag at the most westerly point on 4 July and the journey began.

The American’s route included Geraldton, Sandstone, Kalgoorlie, Norseman, Border Village, Ceduna, Port Augusta, Adelaide, Broken Hill, West Wyalong, Sydney, Newcastle, Tamworth and Bellingen.

The journey was made by Gasson to raise the profile of The Uncle Project with a view to raising funds and securing a corporate partnership. The Uncle Project is a community organisation that mentors boys without positive male role models.
