Luck has not been on Andrew Pitt's side in 2010, suffering a broken collarbone at Brands Hatch on Sunday.

A crash at last weekend’s Brands Hatch round of the British Superbike Championship has dashed Australian Andrew Pitt’s hopes of a Moto2 World Championship debut this weekend at Brno in the Czech Republic, suffering a broken collarbone in a scary race two incident last Sunday.

Pitt was relishing a return to the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit and was making progress throughout the weekend, however as Alastair Seeley crashed out on the exit of Surtees he was unable to avoid the stricken Relentless Suzuki.

“This injury just about tops off this year, we were starting to get a rhythm going in the first race when a fallen rider’s machine fell directly in front of me and I could not avoid crashing into it,” the Aussie former dual Supersport World Champion said.

“I was in the middle of the pack and was the last to see the bike on the floor, the next thing I am flying through the air. I guess I have to think I am lucky as the crash could have been much worse, but that does not make me or the team feel any better. We were all looking forward to the weekend and I will now see a specialist and work hard to get back as fast as I can.”

Pitt was previously scheduled to contest the Brno round of the Moto2 World Championship with Team Scot in place of Alex de Angelis, who will ride in MotoGP for Interwetten Honda as a substitute for the injured Alex de Angelis.

Pit began season 2010 as part of the ill-fated Reitwagen BMW team in World Superbike.
