ASBK: Staring hopes BSB form will continue in Queensland

Bryan Staring hopes to continue his dominance at Queensland Raceway this month after a strong fourth in the UK on Sunday.

Bryan Staring hopes to continue his dominance at Queensland Raceway this month after a strong fourth in the UK on Sunday.

Cougar Bourbon Honda Racing’s Bryan Staring hopes that his impressive fourth place finish in the Brands Hatch round of the British Superstock 1000 Championship on Sunday with the factory HM Plant Honda team will assist him when the Australian Superbike Championship continues at Queensland Raceway this month.

Staring worked his way through from 10th place in qualifying to miss the podium by just one position at the iconic Brands Hatch GP Circuit in the 15-lap race.

“I’m very pleased with the result this weekend, it’s a great result for the team and for me personally, I felt comfortable on the bike and was able to make up some really good ground throughout the race,” said Staring.

“The team showed faith in me by asking me to return while Steve [Plater] gets back to full health. I was determined to repay this with a good result and I am fortunate that they were able to prepare a fantastic bike for me that I was able to setup to suit my riding style.”

The 23-year-old now turns his attention to the fourth round of the 2010 ASBK title chase, where he leads the premier Superbike category by a slim 4.5 points after winning the most recent round, also at Queensland Raceway.

“I’ve learnt so much in time I have spent with the team at HM Plant Honda and I have to thank them for all of their assistance,” he continued. “Thanks must also go to Honda in Australia who were able to provide this opportunity.

“These races were also a great way to keep my eye in ahead of the next round of the Australian Superbike Championship in a fortnight which I am fully focused on.”

Gold Coast-based Staring is the reigning Australian Supersport Champion, hoping to clinch the Superbike crown on return to the category after an 11th-hour switch to Honda in the lead-up to this year’s series.

The Queensland Raceway round will take place on 20-22 August.
