Thor has joined Suzuki RACESAFE for additional support at the MX Nationals.

With the final round of the 2010 Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals only days away, it’s not just the riders and teams gearing up for a massive weekend of racing at the double header this weekend at Coolum.

The official medical team of the series, Suzuki RACESAFE, have been busy preparing to bring their senior medical team and getting a helping hand along the way.

After joining the championship at the beginning of the year and providing emergency medical care, advice and ongoing support to riders at every round, things were getting a bit tight towards the end of the season and additional funding was needed to keep these familiar faces trackside.

Director of Emergency Services at RACESAFE Australia Simon Maas said it became necessary to seek further industry support to ensure the best medical care for these professional athletes.

“Williams Event Management takes rider safety very seriously and is hugely supportive of us and what we do – and everyone in the pits wants us to be there as they can see the benefits, so we needed to find some sponsorship to make this happen,” Maas said.

After approaching the industry for a helping hand, GAS Imports – distributor of Thor in Australia – dug deep to provide the required funding.

“A huge thank you must go to Thor for their support of our vital medical services to the MX Nationals and I must to applaud them for their dedication to rider safety,” Maas said.

As the official medical service for the championship, the Suzuki RACESAFE medical buggies now feature signage as part of their livery, as does the Suzuki RACESAFE Mobile Medical Unit – the focal point to their onsite emergency care.

“Our thanks and appreciation must also go to the following organisations for their support in making it possible for us to be at the track for 2010 MX Nationals – Suzuki Australia, AirRoads, Jeff Leisk of KTM Australia, Yarrive Konsky of Full Throttle Sports, Craig Dack Racing, Troy Carroll Racing and Polaris Australia.

“Without their support and contributions we would not be able to make it to the track to provide Australia’s best riders with world-class medical care.”

Coming into this weekend’s double header at Coolum, Suzuki RACESAFE will be bringing their senior medical team including specialist orthopaedic surgeons, sports medicine team and chief physiotherapist Mark Backway – RACESAFE’s leading expert on arm pump treatment.

The impressive set-up features the Suzuki RACESAFE Mobile Medical Unit, a state of the art facility that has travelled to every round providing an onsite Emergency Medical and Physiotherapy facility, plus mobile Command Centre for the SUZUKI RACESAFE Medical Team.
