Nineteen-year-old Honda privateer Dean Ferris will be looking to continue his strong charge in the 2010 Pro Open MX Nationals Championship when the series enters its second half this weekend at Raymond Terrace in New South Wales.
Ferris has been a stand-out rider in the series so far with a host of top three race results, which currently leaves him sitting in fourth place on 167 points in the standins, just four points behind factory-backed Cougar Bourbon Honda’s Todd Waters.
Ferris is looking forward to the challenge ahead this weekend and has been working hard over the past two weeks since the most recent round at Toowoomba in Queensland, aiming for a podium come Sunday afternoon.
“We have been busy over the last two weeks trying some different suspension settings and the Honda CRF450 feels great,” Ferris commented. “Our plan is to start up where we finished in Toowoomba and keep gaining momentum. It’s a long championship and we are still in the mix for the title.
“We had a good weekend at Toowoomba, and barring my high-speed second moto crash, we would have been on the podium for sure. The Honda is working really well and I am looking forward to this weekend at Raymond Terrace.”
Ferris finished eighth overall in Queensland’s fourth round despite failing to finish the second moto in the three-moto format.
