Victorian Cameron Donald will complete a lap of the Isle of Man TT course on a factory Rizla Suzuki MotoGP bike during this year’s TT in celebration of Suzuki’s 50th year in racing.
Donald will complete a lap directly following the Senior TT race on Friday, 11 June, marking his first ride on the 800cc prototype, as well as the first time a MotoGP machine has lapped the famous street circuit.
“We are thrilled to share this anniversary with Suzuki and we are very grateful to the support that Suzuki has given the TT Races throughout the company’s long history of competing on the Isle of Man,” Geoff Corkish, political member for Isle of Man Tourism commented.
“Many fans will be thrilled at the chance of seeing a MotoGP bike on the Mountain Course for the first time.”
Donald won the Superbike and Superstock races at the TT in 2008 for the Relentless Suzuki team, also finishing a superb second in the Senior TT after his GSX-R1000 suffered an oil leak while leading the event.
Loris Capirossi, the regular Suzuki MotoGP pilot alongside rookie Alvaro Bautista, will also complete a parade lap of the Isle of Man this year, his lap taking place on a production GSX-R in the lead-up to the Senior TT.
This year’s TT will take place on 29 May-11 June, with Donald entering the event as a favourite for his first Senior TT victory.
